[Editorial] Guess what’s next on I ❤ Old Games! – 06/10/19

Hello guys,

The wait is over. Yesterday morning in its elegant replica black box the Mega Drive Mini has finally arrived and it has already found its room in the jingle of consoles hooked up to the main TV in the living room. What to say, there’s only to drool, the console is beautiful, the quality of the titles is great and the 40+ games featured make this probably the best Mini console as of today. As a boy I wans’t a Sega fanboy but I was on Nintendo side, since my first console has ben an NES, but I have to confess that the excitement to receive it has been at least comparable with that for the NES Mini.

So I can say thet this weekend and the next one will be a marathon of games with all the biggest Sega classics. The inclusion of a second controller (finally, for God sake, FINALLY) is what I need to finally challenge my gf with some good old beat ’em up so I can finally beat her (in the modern ones she kicks my ass so bad…).

Not directly related to video games but always among my passions (the most recent one), the same day when the Mega drive Mini has been launched, the new Magic the Gathering expasion, the Throne of Eldraine is officially on sale. I already had a deck from the Prerelease, but now I have the brand new (and awesome) cards to add to my decks. The inclusion of new game mechanics finally allows me to power up my two decks, the green-blue and the red-black, so they will be at least of the same level than the mono white.

So there will be a lot to do!

L’attesa è finita. Ieri mattina, nel suo elegantissimo box replica nero è finalmente arrivato il Mega Drive Mini che si è già ritagliato il suo spazio tra la selva di console attaccate alla TV principale della sala. Che dire, c’è solo da sbavare, la console è bellissima, il parco titoli strpitoso e i numeri sono tutti dalla parte di Sega che con più di 40 titoli batte tutta la concorrenza. Da ragazzo non ero un Sega fanboy ma pendevo per la Nintendo, visto che il NES è stata la mia prima console, ma confesso che l’eccitazione e l’attesa per questo nuovo pezzo è stato paragonabile all’attesa per il NES Mini.

Diciamo quindi che questo weekend e il prossimo saranno una mararona di partite con i più grandi classici Sega. L’inclusione di un secondo controller (finalmente, perdio, FINALMENTE) è quello che ci vuole per poter finalmente sfidare la mia ragazza a qualche picchiaduro vecchio stile, dove lei è particolarmente carente (in quelli più moderni invece no, lì mi spacca il culo…).

Non direttamente connesso ai videogiochi, ma sempre tra le mie passioni (forse la più recente), lo stesso giorno in cui il Mega Drive Mini è stato messo sul mercato, è udicta ufficialmente la nuova espansione di Magic the Gathering, il Trono di Eldraine. Avevo già un mazzo dalla prerelease ma adesso ho le nuovissime (e strabelle) carte da aggiungere ai miei mazzi. L’inclusione di nuove meccaniche finalmente mi permetterà (spero) di potenziare i miei due mazzi, il verde-blu e il rosso-nero, così da renderli competitivi al livello del mono bianco.

Insomma ci sarà parecchio da fare prossimamente!
