Today we celebrate the 35th anniversary of Elite that came out today, September 20th, 1984, made by Acornsoft. Elite is probably one of the most underrated gamnes among the revolutionary ones. It came out in the middle of the 8-bit era and it wascharacterized by an open world in fully wireframe 3D. When it came out it was an incredible success for the public and the critic and became the first game to be featured on the night edition of BBC News. It sold 10 thousand copies in the sole UK and has been converted to almost all of the computers of the time, including even the more obscure like the Tatung Einstein. The fun fact is that it was originally released on two micros not so “attractive”, the BBC Micro and the Acorn Electron. A console versione also exist – the only one – developed for NES that came out only in Europe.

Oggi festeggiamo il 35mo anniversario di Elite, uscito oggi, 20 Settembre, 1984 a firma della Acornsoft. Probabilmente Elite è uno tra i giochi oggi meno acclamati tra quelli che possono definirsi rivoluzionari. Uscito nel pieno dell’era 8-bit era caratterizzato da una struttura aperta in 3D wireframe. All’uscita fu un successo clamoroso di pubblico e di critica e divenne il primo gioco del quale si occupò il notiziario della sera della BBC. Vendette 10mila copie nel solo Regno Unito e fu convertito praticamente per ogni computer del tempo inclusi anche quelli più oscuri come il Tatung Einstein. Curioso il fatto che il debutto avvenne sue due computer probabilmente meno “attraenti”, il BBC Micro e l’Acorn Electron. Fu anche realizzata una sola versione per console, quella per il NES che uscì solo in Europa.
