Here we are again with another entry, the eighteemth24, of the [Game of the Week] column and this time the game featured is Resident Evil Revelations for Nintendo DS!

I’m a bis Resident Evil fan, you know it. But sincerely I didn’t expect that much from this chapter fo the saga. Maybe because I’ve never considered (and that’s my fault) the DS a console suitable for such important games, for which I’ve always considered the home consoles to be better. Also, this version has been praised by the critics, with average reviews higher than 85% so I shouldn’t have been disappointed. And I haven’t, I was actually pleased. Of course the original settings of the first three games are gone, but overall the twists in the gameplay, new weaponry and the new characters worked out pretty good. For people like me, who played all of the Resident Evil games before, this almost doesn’t look like a game of the series, but for the casual gamer who doesn’t want to go deep into the story it’s an absolutely recommended game!
Sono un gran fan di Resident Evil, lo sapete. Ma sinceramente non mi aspettavo tanto da questo capitolo della saga. Sarà che non ho mai considerato, forse a torto, il DS una console adatta per giochi di un certo “peso” per i quali ho sempre ritenuto più indicate le console casalinghe. Eppure questa versione è stata stra apprezzata dalla critica, con valutazioni dall’8 e mezzo in su quindi non sarei dovuto rimanere deluso. E in effetti non lo sono stato, anzi sono stato piacevolmente sorpreso. Certo, non ci sono più le ambientazioni e la storia dei primi tre capitoli, ma nel complesso i cambiamenti al gameplay, le nuove armi e l’introduzione di nuovi personaggi sono azzeccati, nel complesso. Per chi, come me, ha giocato tutti i Resident Evil precedenti, questo non sembra quasi un capitolo della serie, ma per il giocatore casuale che non vuole addentrarsi troppo nella storia è un gioco consigliato!
