Hello old games lovers,
Here we are again to celebrate a great game, delight of the Sega fanoboys and secret dream of Nintendo lovers, Golden Axe, released in May 1989 in the arcades that turns 30 in these days.
A great game in the arcades, Golden Axe had an extremely popular second life on every Sega console of the era, beginning with the Mega Drive which hosts the best port. The game was also released for the humble Master System in a version that, to be fair, is so sluggish that is virtually unplayable and on the Game Gear, where for the price of only 185 AA batteries you could enjoy this scrolling ebat ’em up outside your bedroom. The set of three protagonists has become iconic although I have to confess I’ve never picked Tyris Falre as a playable character (even though she’s hot!)…
