Hello old games lovers,
It seems that December is a good month to release epic and celebrated games and after the Ninja Gaiden anniversary of yesterday, today another great genre-defining game celebrates an important anniversary. Today Doom is 25 years old, having been released on December 10th, 1993.
Doom is by far one of the most important games of all time, not only for its intrinsic value, but because it was the first BIG first person shooter and created a genre that today is probably the most succesful, at least sales-wise: try to imagine a world without Call of Duty, Half-Life, Halo, Quake, Duke Nukem etc…
Doom was so important that after it release the FPS weren’t named “FPS” but Doom-clones. It spawned several sequels, among which Doom 2 is probably the most important but it received a good restyle in the third millenium with Doom 3 in 2004 with one of the best graphics back then and the 2016 reboot.
The company behind Doom, id Software is still a reference point in the industry, since developed all of the Doom and Quake games and produced titles like Heretic and the latter Wolfenstein games and the key people behind it, like John Romero, Joh and Adrian Carmack and Tom Hall have become like guru in the industry.
So, why you don’t play Doom today?

Back in the day we had Doom clones. In present times we get a lot of stuff that are Dark Souls clones.
