Hello guys,
After 18 months (more or less) into collecting I’m starting to focus on some kind of games and platform instead of trying to get as much as I can; let’s say I’m becoming a conscious junior collector 🙂 After having amassed a small haul of games and consoles I decided to focus mainly on three different collections.
The first, of couse, if you have read enough of my posts is that of NES games. The pro is that there are a lot of games and a lot of good games that defined an entire generation, my generation, the first in which the video games started to be something more “mainstream”. The cons are essentially two: again, there are a lot of titles to collect and, being the NES such a successful system, the prices are quite high and always on the rise.
Second, I’m trying to get as many Xbox games I can, even though this could be a strange choice for a person who love old games. There are two reasons behind this choice: first of all, the games that are now “modern” will be in a few decades “retro”. Of course the mass distribution and the incredible distribution of games nowadays will affect the actual value of them but they will be anyway good pieces for a collection. Secondly, we are in a period in which these games are too young to be old and too old to be new so their prices are ridiculously cheap, hence it’s the perfect time to collect them. Even because the Xbvox success is not even close to the success of the PS1 and PS2 whose games command high prices at the moment.
Third and most important for me, I’m trying to collect all the Resident Evil games ever released. I’m not so hardcore to collect all the action figures, books and stuff like that, but only the games, of course with their special/collector editions when they exist, and no, not sealed or such crazy things. I want games I can play not thing I just buy and put on a shelf.
Of couse if I see something interesting for another console, especially is it’s for SNES or PS1 or some piece of hardware for a good price I try to get it, but I think that, unless I won’t find a big collection to buy like the one hungrygoriya found last year, I will stick to my three targets.
Probably this weekend I won’t be attending any market because I decided to spend some days away with my GF (so probably my blog schdule will be affected by some delays…) but of course if one of you feels the urge to send me some games I’m always available 🙂
