[Editorial] Guess what’s next on I ❤ Old Games! – 19/11/17

Hello guys,

This week I finally had the chance to purchase an original PlayStation. It’s been awhile since I had the chance to play with it, like 10 years. The last time it was when I was in my university years with my friends, then we bought a PS2 and still now nobody remembers where the f**k that PS1 ended up.

Even though I’m not planning to buy non-original software or burn my own CDs, the console is region-free and I picked it up not only because it was only 20€, but mainly because with that I can play also NTSC and J-NTSC games. I still remember the huge lot of game my uncle had for the PS1 back then and I’ll surely try to collect them since I’ve spent countless hours on them, even on games not so famous or acclaimed such as Overboard! and Ace Combat (not to mention the days and nights spent on Resident Evil, Abe’s Oddysee and Formula 1 97).

I’ve already started to check for games but I saw that, apart from the overload of soccer games, is difficult to find good games for the PS1 at reasonable prices: even a rather common game can be found at like 15-20€ and if you need a specific game it’s hard to get it for a bargain. There are plenty of huge lots of games but it always happens that they have broken cases, scratched CDs and 80% of the games are useless or, again, soccer games.

Next week if the weather is gonna help I’ll be going to a market at 2 hours driving from here to see if I can find something good for my collection. I’m trying to track down all such events near my town to start (from next year, since in winter there won’t be too many of them) to look in first person for games and consoles, instead of searching only online.

I’ve hear good things about this market and I know some guys are finding interesting stuff so I hope I’ll be lucky as well!
