Hello old games lovers,
Today, September 24th we celebrate the release in the US, 35 years ago, of a great racing game, Pole Position. It’s a game I love and I made a review some months ago for the 2600 version; when it came out it was probably the best racing simulation games ever released (some says it ‘s the most influential racing game ever and also the best) and it was a port from the arcade game with the same name. As always Atari had the best licenses to translate top games into their console and this was probably the game of the moment back then since in 1983 it became the highest grossing arcade title in the US, having sold more that 60 million $ with the cabinets and further 450$ per week of revenue per machine.
The games was later ported on various other platforms like Atari 5200, Atari 8-bit, BBC Micro, Commodore 64, DOS, Intellivision, TI-99/4A, Vectrex, VIC-20 and ZX Spectrum
Used to play this a ton on Windows 95. Controlling the car with a mouse was fun and challenging.

I didn’t know there was a mouse-controlled Win version. The only racing game I’ve played with mouse was Al Unser F. Indy. A fun while horrific experience 😂😂😂
