[Awards] Tons of awards!

Hi guys!

It looks like I ❤ Old Games! has been nominated another time for an award! Or better for more than one! Since my wordpress never displays the notification, I have to search manually all of your posts and I just discovered that three of you during the last times nominated this blog of mine.

So the first blogger I have to thank is Every Gamer Review for his Sunshine Blogger Award, than moresleepneeded for the Entertrainer Blogger Award and last but not least I Play all the Games for the Blogger Recognition Award. A special mention goes to Mr. Panda who nominated me for the PANDA Award but I never had the chance to thank him (shame on me) so this post is also for him. As always, I’m honoured to have received other recognitions. A few weeks ago this blog blew its first candle and this is for sure one of the most appreciated way to celebrate a birthday!

You know the rules:

1. Thank the person who nominated you
2. Answer the questions given to you
3. Nominate at least (you choose the number) bloggers!
4. Write questions for your nominees to answer

So, let’s have a look to the questions I have to answer, starting with Every Gamer Review:

Q1 – What game do you find so boring/so bad/so uninteresting that you couldn’t possibly review?

Probably I’d say one of those games you find on mobile phones. I’m too old style to get to grips with that kind of stuff…Actually I’m not a huge mobile player (nay I’m not a mobile player at all!) so maybe this answer could be a bit biased. If I have to answer regarding a game I have played or at least watched at least once I’d say basketball games. This is a sport I’ve never liked and to play a game about it and even write a review it would be like a torture for me.

Q2 – Are there any games that are considered to be the best ever that you don’t like?

A random game of the Pokemon saga. I tried to play them, but I hated the anime back then, I hated the old games and I hate the 2016 revival with Pokemon Go.

Q3 – If you could go back to your childhood, what would you change (don’t mind the butterfly effect)?

I consider myself quite lucky with my childhood. I’ve always had good friends, we played a lot (not only videogames obviously), I enjoyed school and I lived in a small quite village with no hazards. So it’s a hard choice because my answer could be something I would like today for my childhood instead of something that I wanted back then for my life (I don’t know if this makes sense)

Q4 – If you were to create a movie, could you describe it in 5 words?

Sci-fi adventure and conspiracy (or if you want something more popular “Zombies fighting aliens on Pluto”)

Q5 – Who have been the biggest inspirations in life?

I try to get inspiration in everything I face in my life. Every situation, every discipline, every person I meet.

Then it’s the turn of moresleepneeded:

Q1 – What do you hope to gain from blogging?

Actually I’ve already gained a lot. It started as a side hobby and it became a place where I can share ideas and thoughts with a lot of people. It has been also a  way to explore more in depth the video games world and it “forced” me to study and read a lot not only to be more informed regardind the games I’m talking about, but also to improve my english language skills.

Q2 – What genre of film entertains you the most?

Horror and Sci-Fi

Q3 – Do you consider yourself a writer, and what inspires you to write?

No, I’m defenitely not a writer, not in english and neither in italian. I suck a bit in writing but I’m trying anyway…

Q4 – What is your biggest pet peeve?

People being late at an appointment. This reeeeally piss me off a lot.

Q5 – Why did you choose your particular WordPress username?

benez256 is my historical username, since the first time on the internet I had to use one. benez is like a diminutive of my surname and most of my old friends call me like this. 256 instead is a strange story involving maths, computer science and Formula 1. Don’t want to tell you anyway, I’ve never revealed the meaning of 256 🙂

Then I Play all the Games:

Q1 – If you could erase one video game franchise from existence, which would you choose and why?

Oh…this is an impossible question. There are sagas I dislike but It’s hard now to think of a saga that sucks from the beginning to the end. Don’t kill me but I have to say that I don’t understand all this Pokemon fever as I’ve already said…so…you have your answer 🙂

Q2 – “This sucks but I still love it!” What is your gaming guilty pleasure?

I’d say ZX Spectrum games. They’re pretty much impossible to look at with all their graphical and gameplay limitations due to the scarce power of the computer. But I loved them and I’d love playing them again. If only I had a Speccy……

Q3 – Console or PC? Who is the real master race?

I was born on a console but I’ve spent the biggest part of my childhood and early adulthood on PC so I say PC. But now that I’m starting to collect consoles and old games I think the situation will change a bit…

Q4 – Western or eastern developers? Who is putting out better content?

I’ve tried mainly western developers so my answer is a bit too biased…

Q5 – What is the one thing you hate about your favorite game?

The fact that it has an end. It’s a stupid answer but having a favourite game and beat it leaves a bit a bitter taste. When a game is over you won’t feel like you was before completing it anymore. Day of the Tentacle or Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis are two of my favourite games and it took me 10 almost years to beat them and when I did it I felt a bit empty inside. It’s a strange feeling…

Now, since I’m too lazy to thank all the people that everyday encourage me and since I’m even lazier to write down a long list of questions, my mention goes to all of you, most of whom were already nominated in the post I wrote for the first anniversary of this blog. So I’ll shamelessy copy-paste myself with the same names: JR, LightningEllen, I Played the Game, The Shameful Narcissist, Hungrygoriya, Mr. Wapojif, Cary, Log1932, Cheap Boss Attack, The Deviot, Defy the Majority, Van RockinghamJohnny Cornerhouse, Mr. Panda, Very Very Gaming, Mill. To all of the people who would like to reply to this post and maybe mention me I forward the same question I answered, you can choose 5 of them, randomly.

See you guys!

    Thanks for the mention!

    P. S. I didn’t understand Pokemon either, until I played one of the games. I wouldn’t call myself a fan or anything, but I understand the appeal much better now. The real question with the series now is “how long can it keep going?!”

I don’t know…maybe playing it without prejudice niw in my adulthood would help me to expeess a less biased opinion but by now I’d like to spend more time on games I really like…

I also don’t like that our favorite games have to end. I think that pushes me towards more “open ended” games or simulators that technically don’t have an end. Problem solved!

Congratulations on all your awards! And you’re welcome about the PANDA! I just wanted to make sure I shared the love to all my wonderful friends and people here! Great answers, especially what you hate about your favorite game. And great choices for your favorite game! I just played Day of the Tentacle a few months ago (after loving Maniac Mansion before) and loved it! Thank you so much for the award! I’ll be sure to thank you and answer the questions in a future weekly roundup! Congrats again! I can’t say this enough, but you deserve all the praise you get! 😀

Thanks a lot for the nice words! 🙂 If you tried Day of the Tentacle you have to give Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis a shot, it’s great!

I’ll have to try that! I was able to play Day of the Tentacle because they had recently remastered that for modern consoles, so hopefully I’ll be able to access Indiana Jones.

  5. Thanks for replying to my nomination. It is nice to know that you feel blogging has provided so many benefits, although I was surprised that you do not consider yourself a writer, I have always enjoyed your thoughts in the articles I have read. I am interested by your username, I like the way you have suggested there is a mystery to the 256 part and I am now interested to find out what it is.
What type of science fiction film do you like? What sort of horror stories do you like? Do you like Sci-fi horror films? Like the Alien series? I was surprised to find out you do not like Pokémon, do you find it worse than similar games? Or do you not like the genre as a whole?

About Pokemon there’s no particular reason why I dislike it. Simply…I don’t like it at all! Regarding the sci-fi anh horror movies I do love the b movies and trust me in italy we have tons of them!

  7. Well congratulations on your awards! I loved reading all your answers! Even though I do like Pokémon, your comments about it still made me laugh!! I’ve yet to finish a Pokémon game though, I think I like looking at the little creatures more than anything lol!! Also, people being late is a huge pet peeve of mine as well! And although you do not consider yourself a writer, I think you are a great writer and I love reading your posts 🙂

And thanks for the nomination as well! I have a couple other blog posts planned, and then I will definitely answer the questions! 🙂

Thanks for the comment! I always doubt regarding my writing skills since sometimes when I read again my posts I find some grammatical atrocities! 🙂 and I thank you in advance for any future mention of my blog! 🙂 🙂 🙂

      1. Nah, don’t doubt yourself, you’re doing great! Especially considering English is not your first language, you write a lot better than many of the people I know who do only speak English! 😉

  8. I may have also nominated you for an award recently and maybe forgot to manually tell you (or anyone else)…maybe… https://virtuanaut.net/2017/12/25/the-mystery-blogger-award/ oops.

Also, your nomination link was invisible for some reason. I can see it in the edit page, but didn’t realize it was somehow not present at all on the actual published page (maybe something to do with the heart symbol? I dunno) So I’m just gonna leave this here in an obscure, non-intrusive place because I have no idea what I’m doing.
