[Editorial] First anniversary of I ❤ Old Games!

And so the time has come. Seems like yesterday I published my first post, but actually a whole year have passed and today I’m proud to celebrate the first anniversary of I ❤ Old Games!

This blog, born as a side hobby, since back then I run another blog, MoviesTavern, with your help and your incitements achieved its first goal. Born as an italian blog, so mainly for italian readers, it has become in a few months a bit bigger, in english, full of different columns and especially with a trusted number of followers. We are more than 300 today and we totalized more than 8000 hits so I’m proud to say that my words reach every day a small crowd, a crowd that encouraged me to go on with its appreciations and comments.

I ❤ Old Games! has slowly turned from a side hobby to a kind of proper “work” for me. Everyday I check online what’s trending, I look for anniversaries, I check my pile of games and old cartidges to take some inspiration for reviews, I write sometimes something more “personal”, I play my games and I look after the ones I don’t have and, having started my own collection, I bother you from time to time with my picks. So, after a working day I start another light, pleasing and exciting extra-work with this blog.

In these 12 months a lot of things have changed and I can say that even writing here, reading your interesting posts and talking to you has changed me a bit. I started to write in italian just for fun, and my only goal was to share some reviews of the game I used to play in the past; I ended up in writing ALSO reviews, but mainly about anniversaries, my improving collection, personal thoughts and random stuff. I developed a small culture about consoles and games I’ve never played. So let’s say I ❤ Old Games! was a bit a growth path.

I started as an ex-gamer, devoted to all the games, especially for PC ones I played in the past and now I’m an old games player, looking everyday for new challenges and trying, sometimes for the first time, old gems and hidden treasures; I started as a proud NES owner and now I have a small collection of the most important consoles.

This post is also (nay, mainly) to thank all of you that supported and still support me, from the early followers that had to translate my posts in order to figure it out to the later ones. My special mention goes to the ones I talk to the most and that interact the most with everything I write (I won’t reveal you r real names, don’t worry 😉 ), like JR, LightningEllen, I Played the Game, The Shameful Narcissist, Hungrygoriya (I can’t spoil your name, since I really don’t know it! 😀 ), Mr. Wapojif, Cary, Log1932, Cheap Boss Attack, The Deviot, Defy the Majority, Van Rockingham, Johnny Cornerhouse, Mr. Panda, Very Very Gaming, Mill…whoa I don’t even remember all of you!!!

So, this is the point where it all began, one year ago, and today, after some successful reviews, like Super Mario Bros. 3, FIFA ’98 Road to World Cup and Resident Evil ones, after the success of the RetroPicks and RetroConsole columns, I can say I ❤ Old Games! is a cool place to stay! 🙂
