[Happy Birthday!] Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge

Hello old games lovers,

Seems like yesterday you fist played Monkey Island 2, right? You liked Guybrush Threepwood, a bit goofy and you was scared by the brutality of Largo LaGrande? Well good to know it, it’s the same for me. But you have to know that if it’s so, you’re getting a bit old since this masterpiece of the graphic adventure genre is 20 years old, being released in the December of 1996.

Time flies.

It’s incredible that it was the end of the millennium when I was swearing against my bulky 386 trying to find how to win the spit challenge, one of the best challenges ever appeared on a video game.

So we all have to thank George Lucas and LucarsArts for this little big gem and I hope you have fond memories of this game!

See ya!

Yessss! One of my first point-and-click adventures was The Curse of Monkey Island, and I never got around to this game until about 5 years ago. I love this game series!!!

I’ve never completed it unfortunately but I have it on my list. I’m a bit slow to complete the point-and-click games. I beat Day of the Tentacle 3-4 years ago while I first played it in the middle of the 90s and I beat Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (one of the games I love the most) when I was at the University. I’m fast as a sloth…

I think it took me two years to beat Curse of Monkey Island. King’s Quest VI was even worse! No hints were available!

Last year I tried playing KQ3 and accidentally made the game unbeatable for myself several hours in. I needed a long break after that 😛

Nice reminder, love the game, one of the best ever and with an amazing (and controversial( ending. But actually, it was released 25 years ago, in 1991. Now, I find myself even older…

  4. This game is amazing. I remember buying it back in the 90’s in the local computer shop “Software City”. 🙂 Still own it and it is the pride of my collection. Thanks for writing about MI 2!

Happy Birthday Monkey Island 2, a game that I’ve always wanted to play! I’ve played the newer series on Wii, but I still need to go back and play the LucasArts originals. I’ve only heard good things.

Actually I had a lot of quotes fom MI2 on my profile. I left there for a long time “How many wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?”
