Hello old games lovers,
In the last few days we read a lot of news regarding the new Nintendo console, the NX, and this time looks like we are there: the official presentation of the Big N newborn is scheduled for (maybe) this week, (maybe) friday.
Yes, there are a lot of “maybe” around this new product that have the big task to bring back to the top the japanese firm after a few years of grayness and the failure of the Wii U. The uncertainty is the keyword to understand the story of NX. The first news about are dated 2015, after which a lot of speculations and inventive theories have been purposed regarding the name, the shape and the features of this new console.
After Nintendo suffered a bad reputation in the last times due to a not so flourishing financial situation, the top brasses in Japan probably decided to shorten the terms and rush into things to shut off all the conjectures. On the other hand presenting a product that is still not ready, not tested or simply a bit ahead of its times or still not ready to be released could damage Nintendo and in the mid-long term the losses could be bigger that the gains, even because rumors says that the launch price should be very high.
Is this just an early move or will it comes in a perfect timing, far away from the release of the new PlayStation and the new Xbox?
Only time will tell us…

Whenever they do announce it, I hope Nintendo gives enough advance warning so I don’t just wake up to a sudden overload of NX announcements. We’ll see what happens!

I meant giving us advance warning of the announcement, like an announcement for the announcement, haha. I absolutely hope that Nintendo talks about the NX before March, for sure!

To be honest, the console kind of feels overdue to me, not coming too soon. They really haven’t been releasing many big Wii U games over the past few years, and I’ve been hoping its because they’ve been saving stuff up for the NX. Zelda is already announced for NX. If they have a big Mario game at launch, I will certainly be picking it up the day it comes out.

I really hope it does well. While my first systems were the ColceoVision and the Atari, Nintendo was the first one to steal my heart. I hope they get back on track and don’t get left in the dust. I’d still consider buying a Wii U (now that it’s been out for a few years) since there are some games I’d like to play on it. I remember when the Wii first came out. Even a year or so after its release, it was impossible to find and therefore in high demand.

I com,pletely understand, I’m a Nintendo man so I would be happy to see the company again on the top. I’m considering to buy a WiiU too as a part of my project to collect all the Nintendo consoles ever made…I think I will need a lot of time (and money)

That sounds like a wonderful project! I’m curious about the Wii U now myself. The negative press sort of killed it for me, and I was still fairly into the Wii when it came out. I really should dust that off and play it again.
